An Asian gang growing marijuana in their home in Umm Al Quwain has been arrested, according to Umm Al Quwain Police. The gang members planted marijuana among the bushes at their residence, according to investigators of the Anti-Narcotics Department. Police received a tipoff about the gang selling marijuana in the emirate. Police then formed a team to conduct a surveillance and eventually arrest the suspects in an ambush. Major Jamal Saeed Al Ketbi, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Department, said the gang members have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action. Major General Sheikh Rashid Bin Ahmed Al Mualla, Commander-in-Chief of Umm Al Quwain Police, hailed efforts to combat drug crimes in the country. Police urged the public to report illegal drug activities by contacting “Mokafeh” on toll-free number 80044 or through the Ministry of Interior’s website or app. ICA/Expat Media
