A Dubai court has sentenced four members of an Asian gang to one year in jail followed by deportation after they were found guilty of assault and robbery in Dubai Investment Park. The gang was also fined Dh20,000, equal to the amount they stole from their victim during the incident in March last year. The victim, an expatriate, recounted how the masked men attacked him after he left a massage center late at night. “They blocked my car and tried to pull me out of the vehicle,” he said. While he resisted, one assailant restrained him while another stole Dh20,000 from his pocket. The suspects fled the scene in a rented car, leaving the victim shaken and unable to immediately report the crime due to language barriers. He sought help from a friend to file the police report the next day. Police investigations led to the identification and capture of the suspects in Rashidiya. Weapons and tools used in the attack were recovered during their arrest. Evidence also revealed that the suspects had planned the crime, allegedly motivated by one of them who claimed the victim caused financial harm to his relative. In court, the defendants confessed to their roles in the robbery.
