Residents of GCC countries and their companions can now apply for a 30-day e-visa to enter the UAE, with an option to extend it for another 30 days, the UAE Digital Government announced on Monday. Previously, GCC residents could not extend their visas while in the UAE. They had to leave the country and apply for a new entry visa if they needed to return. The e-visa is required for residents of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar to enter the UAE. Applicants can process it online through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai or via the smart channels of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). However, GCC expats and their companions travelling to the UAE must keep the following conditions in mind when applying for an e-visa: Approval notification Once the application is approved, the e-visa will be sent to the registered email address. Travelling with sponsor Applications for GCC expats and their companions (family members) travelling with GCC citizens will not be approved if the sponsor is not travelling with them. Entry permit validity GCC residents- The entry permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and allows for a stay of 30 days from the date of entry. This visa can be extended for an additional 30 days. Companions of GCC citizens- The entry permit is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and allows for a stay of 60 days from the date of entry. This visa can be extended for an additional 60 days. Conditions for entry denial - Entry will be denied if a GCC resident's visa is expired or cancelled upon arrival. - Entry will not be granted if the profession of the GCC resident has changed after the issuance of the entry permit. - GCC residency must be valid for at least one year from the date of arrival. Passport validity GCC residents must ensure their passport is valid for a minimum of six months from the arrival date. How to apply GCC residents can apply for an entry permit by visiting the GDRFAD website. They need to create a user account, select the appropriate service, and fill out the application form. GCC expatriates must have a valid passport or travel document for entry into the country, along with a copy of their residence permit or an electronic extract that shows their profession and the validity of their residency. A personal photo with a white background is also required. After completing the application, applicants need to pay a fee of Dh250 plus VAT.
