Gerald Anderson has finally addressed the persistent rumors about his relationship with Julia Barretto — and it’s not what netizens expected. In a recent vlog interview with veteran broadcast journalist Julius Babao, the Sins of the Father star dismissed online speculation that he and his long-time girlfriend had broken up. The rumor mill began churning after observant fans noticed the couple had stopped posting about each other on social media. Anderson found humor in the online buzz that snowballed from a photo he posted with the caption “regroup.” “Dahil umupo ako dun? Doon naman nag start eh. Nag reregroup lang kami (Just because I sat there? That’s where it all started. We were just regrouping),” he said.  He went on to say that in showbiz, people tend to assume only two things about celebrity couples — either they’re getting married or they’ve broken up. “What I can keep private, I keep private,” Anderson explained. He emphasized that, like any real-life couple, their relationship also goes through challenges — something he believes the public should understand without jumping to conclusions. Gerald admitted that their partnership has had its share of ups and downs, but reiterated that they are still very much together. “I’ll admit, there are always ups and downs. There’s no perfect relationship, right? No perfect marriage… We haven’t broken up. We’re still together," he said in Filipino. In a previous vlog with Toni Gonzaga, Anderson revealed that he even personally brought Julia to the airport before she flew to Dubai — further disproving rumors that they had parted ways. Julia performed at the Kalayaan 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Center on Sunday (June 1). The event was presented by Emirates Loves Philippines and organized by Infinite Communities. The couple, who have traveled to numerous countries, have maintained a low-key relationship — something that Julia herself previously acknowledged in a Magandang Buhay interview. “I guess we’ve created a private bubble for ourselves, where they don’t really know what’s happening in our relationship. That’s a conscious effort on our part to protect it. We don’t need to overshare. Not everyone has to know our every move — maybe that’s why people assume things," Julia said in Filipino.
