Motorists in the UAE will get a chance to reduce four black points on their driving licence starting August 26, as announced by the Ministry of Interior. They just have to sign the six-point pledge on the Ministry of Interior's website, follow important traffic rules, and avoid getting into accidents to qualify. They would need their UAE pass to log in and sign the pledge. Here are the six traffic rules indicated in the pledge: 1. I will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of me. 2. I will give priority to pedestrians at crossings. 3. I will always wear my seatbelt. 4. I will adhere to the speed limits. 5. I will not use a handheld mobile phone while driving. 6. I will give way to emergency vehicles, police, public service vehicles, and official convoys. If all terms and conditions are met, the four black points registered on the driving licence will be automatically cancelled on September 14. This initiative will be valid for two weeks. This scheme is part of the agency's awareness campaign, "Accident-Free Day" to ensure a safe first day of school as students return from their summer break. The campaign also aims to promote responsible driving by educating drivers on vehicle safety, observing speed limits near schools, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phones. FLE/Expat Media
