Visitors flying into Dubai are greeted with a spectacular sight from the sky: a sprawling 360,000-square-metre green landscape spelling out “Welcome to Dubai” in both Arabic and English. The massive installation—located at the intersection of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road—was unveiled by Dubai Municipality as part of the emirate’s push to expand green spaces and enhance the city’s visual identity. The design features dense greenery, vibrant plants and advanced lighting systems that create a striking display both day and night. Eco-friendly irrigation technologies ensure the project remains sustainable, aligning with Dubai’s long-term environmental vision. The initiative supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to balance urban development with sustainability, transforming Dubai into one of the world’s most liveable eco-friendly cities. Dubai Municipality says the installation is intended to give visitors a “memorable first impression” as soon as their aircraft descends toward Dubai International Airport. CAM/Expat Media
