Girl falls to her death from Ajman building, parents probed
AJMAN - An investigation is underway following the death of an Arab girl, 10, who fell from the balcony of her family's apartment in Ajman's Al Jurf area. The girl slipped and plunged to her death from the balcony of the apartment located on the fifth floor of a residential building in the emirate, said Lieutenant Colonel Yahya Khalf Al Matroushi, Director-General of Al Hamidyah Police station. Police said rescuers found the girl lying motionless on the pavement after the fall and she was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. According to initial investigation, the girl was alone in the apartment during the incident. Her family went out shopping and left her behind. The girl's mother told police that the girl was fasting and was invited to go with them for shopping, but that she opted to stay at home. The parents face prosecution if the investigation confirms negligence on their part, said Al Matroushi, adding that the case would then be referred to court.
