Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed he was diagnosed with skin cancer and underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from his jawline. The 58-year-old “Hell’s Kitchen” star shared photos showing stitches across his face and neck, using the moment to urge fans to take sun protection seriously. “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend. I promise you it’s not a facelift! I’d need a refund,” Ramsay joked in his post. His announcement sparked an outpouring of concern but also fueled online debate, as some questioned the effectiveness of sunscreen—an alarming trend that experts warn could increase skin cancer risks. According to the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, more than 1.5 million cases of skin cancer were reported globally in 2022. Health specialists maintain that sunscreen, whether chemical or mineral, remains one of the most effective defenses against harmful UV rays. Ramsay joins a growing list of celebrities who have gone public about their skin cancer battles, including Hugh Jackman, Khloe Kardashian, and Kevin Jonas. The news resonates strongly in the UAE, where Ramsay’s culinary presence is well established. He owns two restaurants in Dubai—Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai and Bread Street Kitchen & Bar at Atlantis, The Palm. Ramsay previously operated Verre, his first international restaurant, which opened in Dubai in 2001 but closed in 2011.
