If your home garden is your pride and joy, Dubai Municipality wants to see it. The civic authority has announced the third edition of “The Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden in Dubai”, with a total prize pool of Dh300,000 up for grabs. The competition, part of the UAE’s Year of the Community, invites residents to showcase their creativity, sustainability, and innovation in home gardening. Ten winners will be selected for their exceptional designs and eco-friendly practices. Entries will be judged on 10 criteria, including water management, biodiversity, soil health, waste management, energy efficiency, cleanliness, innovation, and aesthetics. The competition is open to Dubai residents living in villas with an outdoor garden space. Indoor or rooftop gardens are not eligible. The first-place winner will receive Dh100,000 while second and third place winners will receive Dh70,000 and Dh40,000 respectively. Two other winners will get Dh20,000 each. The top five shortlisted entries will also qualify for a raffle draw to win Dh10,000. Applications are now open on the Dubai Municipality website and will close on December 21, with judging scheduled for January and February 2026. Winners will be announced in March 2026. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Al Awadi, Director of the Agriculture Department at Dubai Municipality, said: “This competition reflects our commitment to enhancing Dubai’s urban landscape and developing the agriculture sector. We encourage residents to adopt sustainable agricultural solutions that expand green spaces.” The contest supports Dubai’s goal under the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040, which envisions the emirate as a model of livability and sustainability.
