Special mobile numbers, car plates and rare items in Sheikh Mohammed’s collection up for auction

DUBAI - The biggest charity auction in Dubai opens on Tuesday (June 21) at the Madinat Jumeirah with some very interesting items up for sale to the highest bidder. Proceeds from the sale will go to the UAE's Reading Nation campaign to provide five million books to underprivileged children around the world. Let’s take a look at what’s going under the hammer… 1. Ancient manuscript. A 19th-century manuscript edition of the Quran will be among the rare items to be auctioned off. The piece is a donation by former Federal National Council speaker Mohammed Al Murr.   2. Centuries-old Quran. A copy of the Quran dating back three-centuries will be on the auction table. The item was donated by Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, and features unique Arabic calligraphy. The first two pages of this book are embroidered with gold and azure threads, while its verses are separated using small gold-coloured delineations.   3. Arabian mare. The auction will also feature De Lamar, a one-year-old mare of pure Arabian breed. De Lamar is the daughter of champion horse Fa El Rasheem.   4. Sheikh Mohammed’s Kaaba cover. A 106-year-old piece of Kaaba cover from the official collection of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will also be up for auction. The item is embroidered with gold and silver threads.   5. Sheikh Mohammed’s art collection. Paintings from Sheikh Mohammed’s official collection will also be auctioned off.   6. Special car plate numbers. The Roads and Transport Authority has donated five distinguished licence plate numbers that will be up for auction to the highest bidders.   7. Special etisalat mobile numbers. Etisalat is offering the telephone numbers:056 5555555, 056 8888888, 0544444441, 0544444443, and 0544555554 for sale to the highest bidders at the auction.   8. Special du mobile numbers. Du is putting up numbers 0523333333, 0525222222, 0522222223, 0525555554, and 0524444442 for auction.
