A scam offering Dh10 tickets to Dubai’s popular Green Planet attraction has left residents concerned about fraudulent tourist discounts circulating online. The official ticket price is Dh155, but fraudsters have created a replica website to offer false discounts, prompting residents to stay vigilant. Junaid, a Dubai resident, encountered the suspicious deal through a social media ad. “I was looking for a family adventure and found the Dh10 tickets, which seemed too good to be true. Luckily, I noticed the website address was different from the official site,” he told Expat Media. The fraudulent website, thegreenplanet.world, closely mirrors the legitimate site, thegreenplanetdubai.com. This is not an isolated case. Recently, Ras Al Khaimah Police issued a public warning about scams promoting “suspiciously attractive” discounts on events and tourist spots. Authorities advised residents to avoid bank transfers and cash payments for ticket purchases, emphasizing that such payment methods do not offer protection against counterfeit tickets. Previously, the RTA also warned of scammers mimicking the RTA website and luring victims with fake Nol card deals. Local authorities also urge residents to verify deals before making purchases and report scams to the police. “These scams exploit the public’s desire for affordable recreation, especially in times when family outings can be costly,” commented a Dubai Police representative. To combat the rising trend, authorities remind residents and tourists to be cautious when purchasing discounted tickets online.
