More fog forecast to shroud parts of UAE after Dubai flights delayed due to foggy conditions

  DUBAI - More fog is forecast to cover parts of the UAE on Wednesday, after thick fog covered Dubai early on Tuesday morning, causing flight delays and affecting road visibility in some areas until 6 a.m. More than 70 inbound flights to Dubai were delayed, with 60 more flights delayed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., according to Live Flights aviation tracker. On Monday, more than 100 traffic accidents occured in Dubai as heavy fog enveloped it. There were no fatalities or serious injuries in the accidents. The Dubai Police Command and Control Room recorded 107 traffic accidents between 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday as Lt. Col. Khazraj Majid Al Khazraji, deputy director of the command and control room of the Dubai police operations department, urged motorists to take extra precautions as heavy fog may continue to shroud Dubai and surrounding areas possibly on Wednesday also. Al Khazraji also said their command received 1,062 calls for assistance between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Monday. He advised motorists to drive carefully during low-visibility conditions as traffic accidents may happen in such a situation and to leave enough distance between their car and the one ahead to avoid any collision. He also said car owners should make their that their vehicle's windshield and windows and headlights are clean and their light indicators are operating.

Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said foggy conditions may prevail on Wednesday, especially in the northern part of the emirate between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain while the southeast part of the Gulf area is under the effect of a high pressure area causing weather instability.
