Helicopter Crash in UAE: Second Pilot Found Dead
Search teams have found the body of the second pilot killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of the UAE, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority on Monday (September 11). The body of the first pilot was found on Friday. According to the GCAA the pilots onboard the ill-fated helicopter were Egyptian and South African. Their AeroGulf helicopter was on a training flight on Thursday evening when it crashed into the sea. The GCAA clarified that the crash happened in the coast off Umm Al Quwain, and not off the coast of Dubai as previously reported. According to the GCAA, the helicopter, with registration A6-ALD, had taken off from Al Maktoum International Airport. The authority received a crash report from its Air Accident Investigation Department at approximately 8:30pm on Thursday. Search and rescue teams have recovered the wreckage and an investigation is underway to find out the cause of the crash, according to the authority. Any developments regarding the circumstances of the accident will be announced as soon as they become available, according to the GCAA.
