Hit-and-run death in Ras Al Khaimah: Arab driver on trial

The Arab motorist involved in a hit-and-run incident that killed a 72-year-old man in Ras Al Khaimah is now on trial. Police said the driver’s victim died due to severe injuries.  The incident happened in a residential area on February 9 at around 5:55am, police said. The 26-year-old driver was arrested and referred to court after police launched a manhunt and tracked him to his home within three hours of the crime. During interrogation, the Arab driver said he fled the scene because he got confused and scared. Causing a person’s death while driving is considered a serious crime in the UAE, with a penalty that includes a hefty fine and jail time to be decided by the court. ICA/Expat Media
