'Honour killing' suspect may lose Dubai job

  DUBAI - An Indian expatriate suspected of killing his sister's husband in Kerala may lose his job in Dubai, his employer told the media. Saynu Chacko, 26, is the prime suspect in the murder case of Kevin Joseph, 23, who married Chacko's sister, Neenu, against the family's wishes. Chacko reportedly took leave from his work at a technical services company in Dubai to fly to Kerala for what he said was a family emergency. The electrician is under arrest along with 13 other people, including his 50-year-old father and two policemen, for the kidnap and murder Joseph. According to reports, Joseph eloped with Neenu to marry in secret. Joseph was from a low-income family. Joseph, who was later reported missing by Neenu, was found dead in a river on Monday. In Dubai, the employer of Neenu's brother, Chacko, said in a media interview that the electrician would be dismissed from work if he manages to return to the UAE. Chacko's visa is reportedly valid until June 2019 and he has six months to return to the UAE otherwise his visa would be cancelled. The employer said that Chacko told him he needed to fly home since his sister had run away from home and that his father was unwell. According to reports, Chacko and his father may face life imprisonment or the death penalty if proven guilty. He and his father have sought anticipatory bail.
