Hospitality leaders gather in Sharjah for inaugural meet

  DUBAI – Hoteliers, hospitality leaders and service providers gathered in Sharjah on Saturday (December 18) for the inaugural Hoteliers’ Meet & Greet at Al Majaz Waterfront. “We wanted everyone involved in the hotel industry to participate and get together after the pandemic separated many hoteliers from the industry due to closures. We wanted this to be the perfect opportunity for hoteliers to catch up with colleagues,” said Arvind Ragam, general manager of Moosa Moosji Travel & Tourism and Imagine Star, the event organizer. Saturday’s hoteliers’ meetup was graced by Ambassador Dunston P, COO of the Royal Office UAE, the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qassimi; Monal Malhotra, Head of F&B Operations of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq); Expat Media and Ultimate Productions CEO Ma Felicidad Yabut De los Santos and Aylin Noske, Director Product Lead Operations of Deutsche Hospitality. “This country’s main survival is tourism and hospitality and you play a very major role in spreading the service that you can give to the people who are visiting this country so that they keep coming back every time,” Dunston told the crowd at Ushna restaurant, the venue partner for the event. The UAE hospitality industry has rebounded from the devastation of pandemic-driven shutdowns, with average daily occupancy rates trending up in their highest since 2020. Sharjah in particular has opened up more leisure and entertainment spots to “entice more people to visit” the emirate. Under Shurooq, there are nine food and beverage outlets already in operation in Sharjah, with two in Al Majaz Waterfront, with five more under development.
