A hotel guest demanded Dh51,000 compensation six years after he was made to stay in a room with cockroaches and other insects. In his lawsuit, the Arab man said he had reserved a room at an Abu Dhabi hotel. During his stay at the hotel, he was surprised to find insects and cockroaches in the room. The guest stated that as a result of these insects, he developed itchy skin over time. He claims he suffered material and emotional harm and is seeking compensation for damages from the hotel. He also presented documents to the court, such as a complaint filed with hotel management, photographs of insects inside the hotel room, and a medical report confirming that he was treated for skin itches. The hotel's lawyer filed a response memorandum in which he argued that the case should be dismissed due to a lack of evidence. He also stated that six years had passed since the complaint was lodged at the hotel, but he did not file the case during that time. The Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Court dismissed the case after hearing from all parties because it was baseless and lacked evidence. According to the court's ruling, the complainant submitted photos of one of the hotel rooms with insects and dirt but failed to demonstrate to the court that insects caused his claim about itchy skin in the hotel room. Furthermore, the plaintiff's medical report revealed that he had first and second-degree sun damage and two large spots on his back. According to the court, these findings render the complainant's statements about itching skin caused by insects baseless and invalid.
