ICA approval not needed to return to UAE as of August 12

  DUBAI – As of Wednesday (August 12), UAE residence visa holders do not need entry permits issued by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) to return to the UAE. The ICA and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) issued the decision as part of the second phase of the Residents’ Return Programme ahead of the resumption of classes in the country. August 15 update: Expats returning to Dubai still need GDRFA permit In order to facilitate returns, the ICA said it is “automatically granting pre-approval without the need to submit an application” for expats’ return to the UAE. Only those with valid UAE residence visas will be allowed to return to the UAE without pre-approval from the ICA. To ensure procedures can be completed with ease, the authority advises residents to update their private data (Emirates ID number, passport number, nationality) online at http://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae The ICA said the procedure for updating their personal data is “optional for those wishing to verify the validity of their data and travel documents, and ensure that its connected to the approval permit that was previously granted”. The ICA said passengers will still need to present a pre-departure test report showing a negative Covid-19 test result. The test must be taken not more than 96 hours before take-off. Travellers will need to present the negative test certificate to airlines, the authority reminded. “All precautionary and preventive measures will be applied for residents upon their arrival to the UAE, including conducting a lab examination for Covid-19 and adherence to the approved quarantine periods, as well as downloading the Al Hosn app to ensure their health and safety,” according to NCEMA.

Deadline for expired visit visa, tourist visa extended

On Monday, the ICA also reiterated that holders of expired visit visa and tourist visa will have an extended 30-day grace period from August 11 to leave the UAE, change their visa status or renew their visa without incurring fines.
