Identity thief ruins Dubai man’s wedding plans

  DUBAI – An Arab man who stole a Dubai resident’s identity to chat with women in an online dating site has been arrested, but not before ruining the wedding plans of his victim. The Dubai Police on Sunday (August 13) said the fraudster had used the man’s photo to create an online dating profile. But that wasn’t the only problem he caused. The man he was impersonating was set to marry his Arab fiancée but the woman called off the wedding after her family told her that he was actively looking for women on the internet. The woman would not believe the victim when he told her that someone else had stolen his identity online. During police interrogation, the suspect said he did not intend to ruin his victim’s life and that he only did it “for fun”. The suspect is in police custody pending investigation by the Dubai Public Prosecution.
