Indian actress Ranya Rao has been arrested at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru for attempting to smuggle 14.8kg of gold from Dubai. The arrest follows suspicions over her frequent trips between the UAE and India. Authorities became suspicious after noticing that Rao had traveled to Dubai four times within just 15 days. Upon inspection, customs officials discovered she had hidden large quantities of gold in her clothing and accessories. Following her arrest, Rao allegedly claimed to be the daughter of Karnataka’s Director General of Police (DGP), K. Ramachandra Rao, and requested local police assistance. Officials later confirmed that the DGP is her stepfather. Authorities are now investigating whether she had inside help from law enforcement officers and whether she is part of a larger smuggling network.
