The Delhi Police apprehended a man on Saturday after he murdered his live-in partner in Mehrauli and chopped the body into 35 pieces before discarding it in different locations throughout the city. Sources say that Shradha, the victim, was strangled by Aftab Ameen Poonawalla on May 18. The suspect then chopped her body into 35 pieces, bought a new fridge to store them, and threw them at various locations for 18 days. To avoid suspicion, he leaves the house at 2 am with a body part in a polybag. "The matter came to light on November 8, when the missing woman's father approached Delhi Police after she stopped responding to calls," said police. Shradha met Poonawalla while working at a call center for a multinational corporation in Mumbai. They began dating and eventually moved in together. Her family, however, disapproved of their relationship, so the pair eloped and moved to Delhi. According to a senior police official, Poonawalla was arrested on Saturday. During the questioning, the suspect admitted that they used to argue frequently and that she wanted to marry him. Officials stated that a case of murder had already been registered at Mehrauli.
