The UAE expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with India over the victims of a train collision that resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his "heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the train accident in India". "The thoughts of everyone in the UAE are with Prime Minister and the people of India at this time,” Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed said. “We pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured,” he added. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also expressed condolences. “Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones and to the injured.. The UAE stands in solidarity with India during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” Sheikh Mohammed said. At least 288 people died and 803 others injured on Friday (June 2) in India's worst rail crash in over two decades. The deadly crash happened after a passenger train went off the tracks and hit another freight train in Balasore district in Odisha state. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday (June 4) that whoever is found responsible for the accident will be “severely punished”. ICA/Expat Media
