DUBAI - The Consulate General of India in Dubai has recently warned the public against fraudsters using the consulate's name to demand for money.
The consulate said fraudsters have been calling potential victims in the UAE to ask them to deposit money to clear alleged immigration issues.
The fraudsters claim to be consulate staff and tell their victims that they have violated the UAE's immigration law and would need to deposit money in order to clear the issue.
The consulate said it does not not make such phone calls and have not authorised such calls. It also asked the public to report similar incidents to the consulate through email.
"If anyone receives such calls, he/she may please inform the consulate by dropping an email at hoc.dubai@mea.gov.in and cgoffice.dubai@mea.gov.in," the consulate said in a statement. GAD/Expat Media
