Sakil Khan Sarwar Khan, an Indian expatriate from Dubai, won the Dh15 million big prize in the Big Ticket draw in Abu Dhabi with a ticket he bought on his birthday. “Usually, I select raffle ticket numbers randomly,” Khan said. “This time, though, I purchased the tickets on my birthday and really thought hard about the numbers I chose.” Khan’s winning ticket number 191115, which he bought last July 25, was picked during the draw on Thursday (August 3). Richard and Bouchra, the show's hosts, called him to tell him the good news while he was watching the lottery draw live. Khan said that he was thankful to hear that his winning numbers called as he was watching the show live from his room. He also mentioned that he bought the winning ticket with 9 other people. “We are 10 people. I am so happy and excited. We have been buying tickets for almost 10 years. Thank you so much. It was nice to hear from you,” he added. He has been purchasing Big Tickets with a group of his friends since 2015, and says he plans to continue to do so. Khan, who works as an engineering coordinator at an IT company, will use his cash prize winnings to clear his debt and start his own business. JG/Expat Media
