Indian expat wins $1 million in Dubai Duty Free draw
An Indian expatriate in Dubai has won $1 million (Dh3.67 million) in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw on Wednesday (February 15). Menna Saju, 40, bought her winning ticket on February 3. She will be sharing the prize with her group of friends. Saju and her friends have been pooling their money to buy a ticket to the Dubai Duty Free draw in the last five years. They alternate the name on the ticket for each time they buy it online. “This promotion has indeed changed people’s lives dramatically, and we are delighted to be one of them. We will definitely keep on purchasing in the hope that one of us will win again,” Saju said. Born and raised in Dubai, Saju works as an HR specialist for an oil company in Dubai and is a mother of one. Joining Saju as a fellow millionaire is Prasanth Kethankuzhi, a 37-year-old Indian based in Kerala, who was also announced the winner of $1 million in the same draw. He purchased his winning ticket on January 30 on his way back to Kochi, India. A first-time ticket buyer, Kethankuzhi, who shared the ticket cost with his four other friends, is a father of one and runs a pharmaceutical company in India. He said that his windfall “will definitely change our life and our family.” Saju and Kethankuzhi are the 205th and 206th Indian nationals, respectively, to have won $1 million since the start of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999.
