Indian gets Dh55,000 fake job offer in Dubai

  DUBAI – An Indian national who received a high-paying job offer as an English lecturer for a university campus in Dubai thought it was too good to be true and alerted consulate officials about it. It turns out the offer letter from Abu Dhabi University is a fake. The letter states that the victim would receive a monthly salary of Dh55,000 and work in its Dubai campus. The letter, supplied to the Consulate General of India to the media, appears to have an official insignia and also encloses a certificate of employment. Consulate officials said they have come across at least two fraudulent job offers to Indian nationals, purportedly from UAE companies, in the past few days. The consulate issued a warning advising jobseekers to be vigilant against bogus job offers. It also advised jobseekers to seek clarification from the Consulate regarding suspect job offers by sending an email to the Vice Consul of Labour at labour.dubai@mea.gov.in and cgoffice.dubai@mea.gov.in.
