Indian left injured, jobless after UAE car crash gets Dh506,514 compensation

DUBAI – An Indian man who was severely injured in a car crash that also left him jobless has been awarded compensation of Dh506,514 by a Dubai court. Abdul Rahman said a big chunk of the money will be spent on his long-term medical treatment. “If I miss my medication even for a day, I will not be able to stand. I’m jobless now,” Rahman said. The Indian, a grocery shop delivery boy, was severely injured after a speeding car rammed into his parked car in front of the grocery shop in Fujairah on August 22, 2021. The Dubai Court ruled that the driver of the speeding car caused the crash that left Rahman with brain injury that requires life-long medication. The court then ordered an insurance company to compensate Rahman with Dh506,514 as well as reimburse his legal expenses in the case. The insurance company had appealed for a lower compensation, but the appeal was rejected as the court took into consideration police and medical reports submitted by Rahman’s legal representative, Salam Pappinissery. Rahman said he will be going back to India, but is not expected to be able to work due to the disability he sustained following the crash. ICA/Expat Media
