Indian manager jailed for death threats to Dubai jobseeker he courted

  DUBAI - A 35-year-old Indian manager has been sentenced to three months in jail for threatening a 30-year-old Indian jobseeker who turned down his marriage proposal. The Dubai Court of First Instance this week also ruled that the Indian man will be deported after serving his sentence. The court heard that the woman got in touch with the manager on LinkedIn for a job prospect and sent him her curriculum vitae. They communicated for six months and within that period that manager proposed marriage, which the woman rejected. "He used to watch me and stalk me constantly. He texted me on WhatsApp and expressed that he liked me and wanted to marry me… but I refused his proposal," the woman said in her testimony. Following this, the manager continued sending her email and messages on WhatsApp, and also sent her an email that he would kill her and her family if she ever got married. Recalling the incident, the woman told the court: "He threatened me in writing by saying, ‘In case you marry or get engaged to someone else, your mother will be the first victim … and you will be responsible for her death … then I will kill the remaining family members and you’. He called me bad names, and said he would find out where I live and come to me.
