The remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, the Indian pilot who died during an aerial demonstration at the Dubai Airshow, were flown home to India with full ceremonial honours on Saturday (November 22). The Emirati Defence Forces rendered a ceremonial guard of honour, the Indian Embassy confirmed. Ambassador Deepak Mittal and Consul General Satish Sivan paid tribute before Syal’s remains were transported on a special Indian Air Force aircraft. Syal, 37, from Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, was performing an aerobatic display when his fighter jet crashed at Al Maktoum International Airport around 2:10pm on Friday (November 21). The crash occurred moments after the jet completed several passes over the runway. Witnesses said it appeared to lose control before plunging to the ground and erupting into flames.
