Indian taxi driver in Dubai wins Dh20 million

DUBAI – An Indian taxi driver in Dubai became the fourth person to win Dh20 million in Big Ticket, organisers told expatmedia.net. Renjith Somarajan won the jackpot with ticket number 349886 during the draw on Saturday (July 3). Somarajan, who worked as a taxi driver for Dubai Taxi since 2008, lost his job last year due to the pandemic. Thankfully, he has found a new job and will start working in August to help his wife and their son. Somarajan was heading home from Hatta with his family when Big Ticket host Richard announced the winning number. His wife had watched the live draw while they were in the car, and his name was announced. “I always believed one day I would win and today it happened,” Somarajan said, adding that he stopped the car when he realized that he won. The Indian expat said he has been buying Big Ticket in the past three years, and bought his winning ticket with the help of nine friends. “Never give up and have faith. Sharing is caring and it also brings luck,” he said. ICA/Expat Media
