A 15-year-old Indian teenager drowned while swimming at Al Mamzar Beach in Dubai, according to reports on Sunday (November 17). The teen, a student at an Indian school in Dubai, was spending time with his family when the accident occurred on Friday (November 15). Social worker Ibrahim Berike from the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre said the teen and his elder sister were caught in strong water currents. “The family alerted lifeguards, who managed to rescue the sister, but the boy was swept away,” Berike explained. The teen's body was later recovered. According to the family, both siblings knew how to swim, but a sudden undercurrent proved too strong. His mother recounted that the tragedy happened in an instant, leaving the family in shock. The teen, originally from Kerala, India, was the third of four siblings. His funeral will be held in Dubai after completing the required formalities. ICA/Expat Media
