Indian wins $1 million with first Dubai Duty Free ticket
DUBAI - A 25-year-old Indian man is a new millionaire after buying his first Dubai Duty Free ticket that won him the $1 million grand prize. Dhaneesh Kotharamban bought the ticket a few weeks ago while traveling to Kerala for a holiday. Kotharamban has been living in Dubai for 17 months and works here as an electrician. "I've never thought that I could win this big at such a young age! Thank God for this wonderful gift and thank you Dubai Duty Free!" he said in a phone call from Kerala. While it took Kotharamban just one ticket to win the grand prize, it took a Jordanian man 70 tickets in six years to win the jackpot. Yazan Qaryouti, 34, said he has been buying tickets in the last six years in hopes of winning a million dollars. The Sharjah-based Jordanian said he was happy that his perseverance paid off. "This is the second happiest moment in my life! The first one of course was when I married my beautiful wife. We can't wait to visit Dubai Duty Free tomorrow to thank all of you for making this happen!" he said.
