Indians in UAE warned against fake repatriation flights

Indian embassy officials in the UAE have warned Indian nationals against scammers offering fake repatriation flights from UAE to India. According to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, scammers were posing as embassy officials to collect money from victims over non-existent repatriation flights. “It has been brought to the notice of the embassy that some people are cheating innocent Indian nationals by sending messages and collecting money to arrange their travel from the UAE to India through the Twitter handle '@embassy_help' and email ID 'ind_embassy.mea.gov@protonmail.com',” according to the Indian Embassy in a statement. In one such scam, Indians were asked to pay 15,000 rupees for a seat on a fake repatriation flight from UAE to Delhi on Wednesday (August 17). Victims were told to transfer the payment to an online bank account. The Indian Embassy urged nationals to contact the embassy directly for any assistance and to only use its official channels and email addresses with the domain @mea.gov.in. ICA/Expat Media
