Dubai may soon welcome a piece of Turkish architectural heritage, as Bahria Town has announced plans to build a replica of Istanbul’s famed Blue Mosque in Dubai South. The Karachi-based developer revealed that the mosque will be a key feature in its 20-million-square-foot project, alongside a proposed Eiffel Tower replica. The development aims to integrate cultural and historical landmarks to create a unique living experience in the UAE. While no official timeline has been set, the developer stated that the first phase of the project is expected to take four years. Early residents of the development will enjoy direct views of the mosque, which is set to be a major attraction in the area.

Tribute to Ottoman architecture

Modeled after the iconic Sultan Ahmed Mosque, popularly known as the Blue Mosque, the new Dubai South version will aim to capture the elegance of its Turkish counterpart. The original mosque, completed in 1616 during the rule of Sultan Ahmed I, is one of Turkey’s most visited cultural sites, famous for its six towering minarets and blue-tiled interior. Bahria Town has not disclosed specific design details but is expected to incorporate key elements such as domes, intricate tilework, and traditional Islamic architecture to pay homage to the original. This project follows a growing trend of replicating world-famous landmarks in Dubai. From the Miracle Garden’s floral Eiffel Tower to Global Village’s cultural pavilions, the city has long embraced architectural diversity. Real estate analysts believe the inclusion of such landmarks adds unique appeal to developments. “A Blue Mosque replica will not only attract investors and residents but also enhance Dubai South’s cultural landscape,” a Dubai-based property consultant told Expat Media.
