UAE authorities ban the entry of certain goods under the Common Customs Law of the GCC States, or any other law or regulation applicable in the country. Travelers caught smuggling prohibited goods will be subject to a fine, imprisonment or confiscation of smuggled items. Here are some prohibited items that you should be aware of. 1. All kinds of narcotic drugs (including cocaine, hashish, heroin, poppy seeds, hallucination pills, etc). 2. Gambling tools, machineries and devices of all kinds 3. Three layers fishing nets 4. Live animals 5. Self-defence sprays like mace or tear gas 6. Radiation and nuclear-polluted substances 7. Items that contradict Islamic faith and public morals (including pornographic materials, sex toys and items related to sorcery) 8. Paan and betel leaves 9. Fake currency 10. Rhinoceros horns or crude ivory 11. Goods intended to be imported from boycotted countries 12. Guns, ammunitions and explosives Travelers can be accused of smuggling if they fail to declare goods at the Customs Department when entering the UAE, or if they bring items without valid import permits.
