Dubai Police's Ports Police Station has launched a targeted inspection campaign covering jet ski rental companies at Fishing Harbour 3, resulting in the confiscation of 32 jet skis and issuance of 39 violations. The move comes as part of a larger initiative to enhance maritime safety and enforce regulations in the emirate's marine recreational sector. Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station, said, “The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to enhance maritime security and regulate the marine rental sector, ensuring that all safety standards are met for the well-being of customers and recreational watercraft users.” The confiscated jet skis were found to be severely damaged, involved in previous accidents, or deemed unfit for operation. Violations were also issued for unsafe practices and non-compliance with designated marine routes. The inspection also uncovered administrative lapses, including lack of proper electronic documentation and ambiguous rental procedures. Warning notices were given to the companies involved, with documentation forwarded to relevant licensing and legal bodies. Brigadier Al Suwaidi emphasized that using or renting out unlicensed or unfit watercraft carries fines of up to Dh5,000. Operating a watercraft without a valid license results in a Dh1,000 fine.
