A jobseeker has warned residents after going for a job interview that later turned out to be a scam by fraudsters posing as recruiters of Qatar Airways. John (real name withheld) told Expat Media that he found an advertisement about a job hiring for Qatar Airways on social media and sent his application. He was subsequently contacted for a phone interview, which he said he “passed”. He was then sent an employment contract following a "successful" interview. “I felt confused because when I read their employment contract, they were asking deposit money for ‘provisional bond or criminal records validation’ to process my application. I got suspicious immediately,” he said. He ended up declining the so-called job offer. Qatar Airways has repeatedly warned job seekers to stay vigilant as fraudsters continue to pose as recruiters for the airline in an attempt to scam victims. Genuine job offers from Qatar Airways never require payment for any part of the recruitment process. Qatar Airways has issued a statement outlining the correct procedures for their hiring process. The airline stressed that it only contacts applicants through official channels, such as their careers website and email addresses ending in @qatarairways.com.qa or @.qatarairways.com. The company emphasized that it never asks for payments related to visas, medical checks, or any other documentation as part of the recruitment process. Job scams involving Qatar Airways often lure victims through unsolicited emails, fake websites, or social media ads. Applicants are urged to be cautious of any recruitment message that includes urgent requests for personal information or payments. Real interviews are always conducted through official platforms, and job offers are only made after a formal process that includes face-to-face interviews. Qatar Airways encourages anyone who suspects they have encountered a scam to report the incident via their careers website.
