John Dodson excited for UFC fight in Manila and wants to embrace Filipino heritage

  MANILA - Filipino-American bantamweight John Dodson says his fighting spirit is the most Filipino thing about him. The 31-year-old southpaw revealed his Filipino roots as he built up hype at a press conference for the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fight Night in Manila in October. Dodson, whose mother Sarah is a Filipino, said that he wants to make his mother and Filipinos proud. “It’s amazing because I get a chance to see this wonderful country and meet these great people. I want to see the true fans of the sport and show why we should always come back here,” he said. The bantamweight fighter said he want to "embrace" his Filipino heritage. “I want to see the great attitude and lifestyle everyone is talking about so I can go and bring it back on how I live my life at home,” he said. The 31-year-old Dodson is in Manila on a four-day tour to promote the return of UFC at the Mall of Asia Arena on October 15.
