A Jordanian expatriate in Abu Dhabi is now Dh1 million richer after winning the recent Mall Millionaire draw that he said he almost skipped. Mohammed Sameer, who works as a paramedic, said he was shopping with his daughter when she suggested that they participate in the Mall Millionaire draw. Sameer admitted that he didn’t have high hopes for such draws, and was not keen on swapping his shopping receipt for vouchers. He would have thrown away his receipt, but decided to participate in the draw after his 10-year-old daughter insisted. He received 14 coupons in exchange for his shopping bill worth nearly Dh3,000. The Mall Millionaire promotion gave shoppers the chance to win Dh1 million with a coupon for every Dh200 they spend in any of the 13 participating Lulu malls in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. The promotion ran from December 8 to January 6. To Sameer's surprise, one of his vouchers was selected as the grand prize winner. Sameer said he couldn’t believe that his simple decision turned into a "prize beyond wildest dreams." The Jordanian said he has not finalized plans on how to spend his winnings, but is thinking of buying a house in Jordan and investing some of the money. Sameer has been living in Abu Dhabi since 2017 with his wife and their three daughters.
