Judge Frank Caprio celebrated on Friday (August 30) the birthday of a 101-year traffic offender who became his friend after the popular judge dismissed the case. “Still going strong… Victor is now 101 years young! Happy birthday!” Caprio said on Facebook, posting a video of his visit to the centenarian’s home and using the hashtag #bestfriendsforever. Judge Caprio has said that Victor Colella’s case has been one of his most memorable moments in the courtroom in over 38 years. He had dismissed the case against Colella, then 98, who had been charged while rushing his handicapped son to a doctor's appointment. Colella, now 101, reunited with Caprio, calling him "the best friend I ever had" and praising his humanity and generosity. Judge Caprio is known worldwide for his humor and empathy on the bench, earning him the moniker "The World's Nicest Judge". The 87-year-old became a social media sensation through his TV show, "Caught in Providence," which has aired nationally since 2018, showcasing his unique approach to handling traffic cases and misdemeanors in Rhode Island. Last year, he was in Sharjah and Dubai on his first visit to the UAE, telling students in Sharjah to “go out and conquer the world”. "It's not a pleasant experience to go to bed at night, say your prayers, and suddenly have one extra thing you have to ask for," Caprio told CBS News.
