Kalayaan 2026 will feature the most number of artists and P-Pop performers in its history, according to organizer Elena Cruz, founder and CEO of Infinite Communities, the group behind Dubai’s largest annual Philippine Independence Day celebration. That record-breaking lineup sets the tone for this year’s celebration, which returns to Dubai World Trade Centre on June 7, transforming Halls 1 and 2 into a full-day cultural and entertainment hub for thousands of Filipinos across the UAE. “This year showcases the most number of artists and P-Pop performers, the most in Kalayaan history,” Cruz told Expat Media during the official launch of Kalayaan 2026 at BurJuman Mall’s B Hub on Thursday (May 21). For Cruz, the scale of the event is not just about entertainment value. It is about what Kalayaan has become for the Filipino community in the UAE: a yearly gathering built on identity, connection and shared pride. “Being in a position to produce Kalayaan is a privilege of a lifetime,” she said. This year’s celebration is expected to draw large crowds once again, with free admission from 8am to 8pm and a programme that combines live performances, cultural showcases, community activities and food experiences. The official lineup, revealed during the launch event, includes actress and singer Arci Muñoz, girl group G22 and P-Pop act 1st.One, adding star power to what organizers describe as the most ambitious edition yet. But while headline acts generate excitement, Cruz pointed to a different moment as the emotional highlight of the day. Asked what attendees should not miss, she said: “The parade. It’s a stunning and incredibly emotional and proud moment.” For many overseas Filipinos, the parade has become the symbolic centre of Kalayaan, where music, flags and cultural performances come together in a shared expression of identity. As groups march and familiar songs play, the atmosphere shifts from a concert-like celebration to an emotional connection. Cruz said this is what gives Kalayaan its meaning beyond scale and spectacle. “More than just a celebration, Kalayaan 2026 serves as a platform to unite the Filipino community, promote cultural understanding, and share the richness of Philippine traditions with the wider UAE audience,” she said. “It is also a meaningful reminder of the shared values, hard work, optimism, and resilience that define Filipinos around the world,” she added. Alongside the celebrity performances, visitors can expect cultural presentations from Filipino community groups across the emirates. According to Josie Conlu, community director of Infinite Communities, audiences can look forward to “exciting musical and cultural presentations from various Filipino community groups across the emirates, celebrating the diversity, creativity, and talent of the UAE Filipino community.” The event will also feature interactive exhibits, community booths, family-friendly attractions and a Kalayaan Food Village serving Filipino favourites alongside multicultural dishes, turning the venue into a full-day destination for food, culture and entertainment. Kalayaan 2026 is presented by Emirates Loves Philippines, Infinite Communities and The Filipino Channel, with support from D&R Elegant Events, Urban Grid Group and VivaOne. It is also backed by the Philippine Embassy, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the Migrant Workers Office, Dubai Police, Positive Spirit, Hemaya International and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai (GDRFA Dubai). The official launch brought together community leaders and partners, including Philippine Consul General Ambrosio Brian Enciso III. Their presence underscored the event’s importance as one of the UAE’s largest Filipino community gatherings. For Cruz, that scale reflects something simple: a community that continues to grow, and a celebration that grows with it.
