In Dubai ahead of their movie premiere on Friday (August 9), Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards shared the challenges they encountered while filming “Hello, Love, Goodbye”. Speaking to Expatmedia.net at Novotel World Trade Centre in Dubai, Kathryn said portraying the character of Joy, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Hong Kong, was the most challenging part. “I am not her. In order for me to do Joy, I had to be a different person during the shoot,” she said in Filipino, “I had to talk like Joy, walk like Joy, sit like Joy.” “Hindi mo sya mafe-fake (You can’t fake her),” she told Expatmedia.net. “It was difficult because I had to go through what Joy went through, and I’m not an OFW,” she added. Kathryn said that director Cathy Garcia-Molina gave her an important advice to just let the acting flow naturally. Alden, for his part, said the technical aspect of shooting abroad and helping staff and crew to carry equipment was very challenging. The actor said that shooting a mountain scene that featured in the movie trailer was a huge challenge, describing it as “the most difficult part of this project.” “There’s no joy without hardships, that’s why we are so proud of this project because we experienced a lot of hardships while doing this film so we are just happy that the people appreciate it so much.
