Keep your dog on leash or risk fine if UAE draft law is approved

  DUBAI – Dog owners in the UAE will need to keep their pets on a leash when in public or risk being fined if a new UAE draft law is approved. Under the proposed law passed by the Federal National Council on Wednesday (June 15), it is mandatory to use a collar and leash for all dogs when on public property. The draft law still needs President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s approval before it takes effect. According to the draft law, owners who fail to control their dogs in public places face up to six months in jail and fines ranging from Dh10,000 to Dh500,000.
