Kris Fade appeal to save Ravi restaurant in Satwa pays off

  DUBAI – After being faced with the prospect of shutting down, Ravi restaurant experienced its “busiest night” following a public appeal by popular radio presenter Kris Fade to support the restaurant in Satwa. It has been reported that the restaurant’s owner was forced to sell assets in order to keep the eatery running in the past two months following a slump in sales amid the coronavirus pandemic. Ravi, a business that began in 1978, closed during Dubai's 24-hour sterilization program and only reopened at reduced capacity after Ramadan. After hearing about the restaurant's problem, Kris Fade, in his morning radio talk show, urged his listeners to help local businesses survive by buying their food. It appears the small eatery holds sentimental value to Fade, who revealed to City Times that Ravi was the first restaurant that he visited when he arrived in the UAE eleven years ago. He also took his fiancé there on their first date. The local radio star also revealed that he and his dad eat at Ravi after getting their beards shaved in Satwa. On Tuesday (June 2), Fade conducted a radio interview with the son of Ravi’s owner, who told him they had “one of our busiest nights” after his appeal. "The night before had sent me a message and said, 'Kris I've just spoken to the guys and it was an amazing night. It's been one of our busiest nights', which was great," Fade said. After the interview, Fade told listeners: “I think it's important to all get behind each other and help each other." “We're all struggling right now.
