More than 1,000 expatriates will be deported from Kuwait soon after they were arrested in a security crackdown at the beginning of the year. The expats were arrested for violating various laws in the country, authorities said. Majority of those detained are now being processed for deportation. The arrests were made between January 1 and 5 as part of efforts to deport illegal workers from Kuwait. Sheikh Talal Al Khaled, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, ordered the security crackdown, highlighting the government’s commitment to enforcing residency laws and legal employment practices. Last year, Kuwait deported more than 42,000 expats, which was the country’s highest number of expatriate deportations in a year. According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, the deported expats consisted of 25,191 men and 17,701 women. ICA/Expat Media
