Kuwait has deported 62 Sri Lankans found to have overstayed their visa in the country, according to the Sri Lankan Embassy. According to embassy officials, the deportees were residing in Kuwait without proper documentation, and only had temporary passports. The deported individuals included 59 domestic workers, a fraction of whom have left their jobs to take up various work in the country. Since early this year, Kuwait has reportedly deported more than 9,000 expatriates due to various offences, including overstaying their visa and other criminal and misdemeanor cases. The majority of the deportees were from India, followed by nationals from the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Egypt. ICA/Expat Media
