Kuwait authorities have arrested a man who admitted to killing his Filipina housemaid and burying her body in his backyard. The gruesome discovery occurred after the suspect surrendered to police, two months after the crime, saying his conscience bothered him. The suspect has a criminal record in Kuwait. The man confessed to fatally beating the maid during an argument. He told investigators that he panicked after realizing that she died, and buried her in his Jahra home. The woman’s decomposed body has been recovered from the man’s backyard. Investigations are underway to find out the circumstances of the murder. The victim, who arrived in Kuwait as a domestic worker in 2019, had been reported missing by her second employer in October 2024. The crime came to light after the suspect’s sibling alerted police. DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac assured that legal proceedings are underway, emphasizing the Philippine government’s commitment to justice for overseas workers. “Our lawyer is already coordinating with the Kuwaiti prosecutorial and law enforcement authorities about the investigations that are unfolding there, and we are awaiting the results and eventual prosecutorial actions here because the perpetrator has been identified, and as I mentioned, even a next of kin of the perpetrator who might have concealed the crime is being questioned,'' Cacdac said.
