KZ Tandingan on height issue and Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s singing

  DUBAI – In a world where basketball players, beauty queens and flight attendants need to be taller to get an advantage, is height everything? KZ Tandingan took to social media on Tuesday to say it’s not. The Filipina singer, who is headed to Dubai for her solo concert in March, posted a photo of herself being towered by Miss Universe contestants on stage. “Looking at this picture, I can’t help but feel really blessed. I’ve always thought that because I’m short I can’t reach my dreams. this picture will always remind me, I maybe small but I stood on the same stage and somewhat represented our country with these amazing queens,” KZ wrote on Instagram. She also included a quote from William Shakespeare: “And though she be but little, she is fierce” and ended the message with the hashtag #gamayperoyayay, which means "small but terrible" in Bisaya, a Philippine language. The post garnered praises from fans, including one who commented: "KZ you don't have to be tall to be the Most Inspiring Idol and Most Beautiful Person in the Universe!"

KZ’s actual height is not known although industry sources say she stands less than 5 feet tall. But what KZ lacks in height, she makes up for in talent. The petite singer with a powerful voice has garnered multiple awards in the Philippines and abroad, more popularly beating US pop star Jessie J in a singing showdown in last year’s Singers contest in China. KZ wowed judges and the crowd with her unique rendition of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep, mixing electronica, pop and Filipino rap in her performance.
