Lamborghini thief arrested after Emirati's viral post

DUBAI - A Dh2 million Lamborghini was recovered and the thief arrested after the car owner's viral post alerted social media users who helped police spot the stolen supercar. Dubai-based social media influencer, Abdullah Alfahim, was traveling from France to England when he asked a car shipping company to ship his Lamborghini Aventador to London. The Emirati, 30, said he was approached by a company representative who he later learned had created a fake Instagram account. Alfahim said his car was picked up from the hotel where he was staying in Cannes, and that he was told that the car would be at the hotel in London in one hour. "He blocked my number after that and I never heard from him again," Alfahim told Khaleej Times. The Emirati said repeated attempts to contact the company failed, so he notified the Interpol, the European Police Office and the UAE embassy in London. Alfahim's close friends also uploaded photos of his supercar on social media to help him find it. The posts went viral, and Alfahim was contacted by people from Europe and the GCC. Tips from social media users helped police track down the stolen supercar in Poland, where police arrested a Polish suspect. Alfahim said the suspect shipped the supercar from France to Italy to Poland, and was planning to continue the journey to Russia and Ukraine when he was arrested. The Lamborghini is currently in the custody of the UAE embassy in Poland.
