Robots are stepping in to teach road safety in Abu Dhabi! Abu Dhabi Police deployed mobile smart digital traffic education patrols to raise awareness among the public about traffic safety and adherence to traffic laws, regulations, and rules. The authorities have also set up a driving simulator that uses virtual reality to give residents a realistic driving experience, including braking and steering. The simulator also shows digital awareness videos and displays images of traffic incidents and the potential consequences of violating traffic laws on a rear-view screen using technologies such as CGI. Now that millions of children are back in school, the digital traffic patrol will also conduct home visits, offering advice to private drivers, domestic workers, parents, and other community members on managing children in vehicles safely on the road. Furthermore, Abu Dhabi Police will also organise lectures and distribute gifts and brochures. Major Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mhairi, director of the Digital Traffic Awareness Project, said that the Digital Traffic Education Patrol comes as part of ongoing interest in providing new proactive services that are in line with governmental and future trends in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Road safety remains a significant concern in the emirate. Recently, Abu Dhabi Police released footage of two major traffic accidents in an awareness video.
